The Central Berg
The Central Berg has the Cathedral Peak area. The area is as rugged and beautiful as the rest of the bergs. Miguel and Sandy joined us on this part of the trip. Miguel took us for a ride to the top of Mike's Pass. This isn't really a pass. It is a dead end near the top of a mountain. We welcome the 1st day of Year 2000 with champagne and peanuts.

There are lots of farms that exist from the rolling hills right up the the foothills of the mountain range. The villagers in the area (who are of Zulu descent) have very quaint homes, with thatched roofs, and also have fantastic views.

This home (above) has a new building being constructed and a solar panel.
There is a wonderful ceramic art studio called Ardmore in the Central Berg area. Its crafts are unique and amusing. There is also a B&B guest Farm at the site of the studio.

After leaving the studio, Miguel wanted to take some pictures of this lovely farmhouse on the left side of the road and this Flattop Tree on the right side of the road. While pulling onto the side of the road his back tire went into a drainage ditch. Thank the Lord for 4-wheel drive.

This is the B&B that we stayed in the Central Berg area.

A familiar scene along the roadways. During the holiday period there are several car related fatalities. About a quarter of the fatalities involve pedestrians.
