De Hoop Nature Reserve

De Hoop Nature Reserve is a great place to spot whales from the land. There are very few people in a very large area.

A different whale can be seen every 5 minutes.

The beautiful Dutch colonial farm house, the whales, the sand dunes, the solitude .... these are some of my favorite things. Mmmm... including this very charming guy too.

The nature reserve also has the endangered Cape Mountain Zebra, sporting its unique brown stripes and pattern.

The road to De Hoop is loaded with farms and windmills.
