Paragliding

Paragliding, along with any other crazy sport, is very popular in South Africa.   The sport, however, is probably regulated under much stricter controls than in the US.

Our paragliding training is with "Paragliding Adventures."  They train the student on an ex-military base near Jo'berg, using a winch system.   Two days of training are required before a person gets to fly.

There are lots of students and near accidents (like hitting the only cars in a huge field) are common.

I am number two in line for my first flight, but alas, a storm blew in quickly and our flights had to be cancelled.  Stay tuned on this page for further paragliding adventures.
