There were plenty of game on this our third trip to Pilanesberg.  There were the usual impala, red hartebeest, and lilac-breasted roller.

But we were very surprised when we came across a few elephants heading towards a watering hole.

Two elephants initially showed up and then a third, a big bull elephant.

We immediately jumps out of the car, ignoring the "dont's" (lions and leopard are in this park but we have never seen one).

And then more elephants began to arrive.

About 12-13 elephants arrived, drank, sprayed themselves, played around, and slowly meandered off.

We also came across a group of giraffe and zebra having a drink at a small pool.  The giraffe must contortion itself in order to get low enough for a drink.   While we have seen pictures of this, we had never before seen one actually "stoopping so low."

Pilanesberg is a great place!
