This is a panoramic picture of the Unkar area from the top of a mesa.

Unkar is another great place for a layover.  The panoramic views are fantastic.

A view upstream shows how the canyon has opened up a bit.

Looking out a side Canyon that we call Playdoeo Canyon because the cliffs look like they were made with putty.  Playdoeo Canyon offers a cool place to hang out on a hot day at Unkar.

The twist in the river shows how Unkar Rapid can sneak up on those without a river guide map.

There is an island just upstream of the camp site.

The cliffs around Unkar glow when the sun starts to go down.  This view of the south rim shows snow at the higher elevations.  This is a common site in March.  The temperature at Unkar during the day was about 85 degrees.

The white capped south rim rises high above Unkar Rapid.

We saw the Hale-Bopp Comet from Unkar that night although this is not really what we saw.   This picture has been digitally altered and is a reminder for me and my friends.
